
TOYH Community Based Support
Strong compassion for and a delight in helping others drives the Time on Your Hands team to support those in the community who have extra challenges in managing day-do-day life. We pride ourselves in relating and communicating to individuals in a non-threatening manner. This is paramount to developing trust, always resulting in win-win outcomes for others.
Time on Your Hands provides the following Community Services:
- Business Support within not-for-profit Community Organisations.
- Volunteer services within the local community.
- Involvement in greater community and international charities for children.
Our area of interest includes but is not limited to the following:
- Community groups.
- Elderly/retired.
- Disabled.
- Mental illness indivuduals in collaboration with their family and / or case workers.
- Migrants.
- Children.
Our approach is very much that of a helper/facilitator. Often, this is simply about providing those in need with a connection to appropriate solutions they were unable to find by themselves.
Community services include:
Computer training and support
- Community Computer Education classes http://exchangekgrove.blogspot.com/.
- Community Centre Admin Staff computer training.
Facilitate regular community events
- Weekly support at Community homework club
- Monthly support at Coffee & Chat group.
- Occassional support at Community Pantry.
Elderly & community members support
- Provide regular support to individuals by assisting with common chores i.e. grocery shopping, household chores, providing meals, conversation, transportation and other errands. Much like the things you would normally do for your own parent.
Examples of duties performed previously for community clients include :
- Initiate and run weekly ‘Community Computer coaching sessions’.
- Implement new more efficient vehicle booking system. Dramatically increasing efficiency throughout Community Centre.
- Provide business consultancy and IT support services, throughout 3 locations.
- Liaise with IT Support technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues.
- Implemented web-based file portal (SharePoint) by cleansing, restructuring and transferring data, enabling staff to access and collaborate on working files from multiple locations.
- Document and provide training for staff on using SharePoint.
NB: Community groups have paid for above listed duties. Volunteer duties vary, there would be too many to list here!
